About

You have the power to energize Heinz College today!

Heinz College is helping students and communities soar to new heights at the intersection of people, policy and technology. Heinz College excels in research and education, fueling an open, collegial environment that supports creativity and innovation. Each year on Giving CMU Day, we honor our accomplishments and look ahead to the new possibilities that our supporters will bring to life. And with your help, a new generation of Tartans can power up at Heinz College.

Featured Funds This Year:

Ramayya Krishnan Endowed Fellowship:

In recognition and celebration of Dean Ramayya Krishnanโ€™s tenure over the past 17 years as the Dean of Heinz College, we have established an endowment fund in his name. The fund will support students of all Heinz programs with a preference for those with financial need. Dean Krishnan has been instrumental in the evolution of Heinz Collegeโ€™s education portfolio, including the launch of the Master of Information Systems and Management program. Under Dean Krishnanโ€™s leadership the college has grown significantly and and is the only academic institution home to two prestigious awards from the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS): the John von Neumann Theory Prize and the UPS George D. Smith Prize. Along with the growth of Heinz College, Dean Krishnan has founded four externally funded university-wide research centers, including the Block Center for Technology and Society. The vision and leadership that Dean Krishnan brought to Heinz College will be honored with this endowment.

Heinz Diversity Scholarship:

Heinz College strives to attract, maintain and nurture a student body of diverse viewpoints, backgrounds and talents. We are committed to improving access to our graduate programs, for underrepresented groups. Heinz College draws students from more than 30 nations and more than 40 U.S. states, but much more must be done to realize our aspiration.

Your gift will be used to provide scholarships to graduate students in need, with priority given to students from historically underrepresented groups (such as socioeconomic status, first generation to attend college and prior attendance at a minority-serving institution)  to build a diverse and inclusive community.

Internship Opportunity Fund:

For decades, the Internship Opportunity Fund (IOF) has catalyzed the careers of the next generation of public servants by providing financial support for Heinz College students while completing their required internships, which are sometimes low-paid or unpaid. The IOF provides students with the economic freedom to choose the internship experience that best aligns with their personal and career goals by reducing financial barriers.

Your gift to the IOF will be magnified by a dollar-for-dollar match from Heinz College. Join us in investing in our current students to ensure that they have a remarkable Heinz College experience. Funds will be distributed to graduate students as stipends to cover basic living expenses while completing their internships.

Giving CMU Day is your chance to illuminate the next bright idea at Heinz! ๐Ÿ’ก
