We are Abhinaya, CMU’s only Indian classical dance team! By bringing these traditional art forms to CMU, we are embarking on a cultural endeavor that not only celebrates dance but also deepens the understanding and appreciation of India’s vibrant history and its profound connection to the arts.
Our goal as a team is to expand awareness of India’s rich cultural heritage by showcasing the beauty and diversity of classical dance forms. Hence, we are excited to announce our upcoming Spring 2025 showcase, featuring a wide array of performances by our team members and talented classical dancers from across the community. This showcase will feature a variety of classical styles, including Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Kuchipudi, Mohiniyattam and Odissi. Each of these dance forms originates from different regions of India, representing generations of oral traditions, storytelling and cultural practices. Through this, we provide a space for people to showcase their skills and culture as well as a space for others to learn about and appreciate it!
