You have the power to energize ChemE Car today!
ChemE Car is an all-major technical project club that focuses on building a model car powered by chemical reactions. We participate annually in the AIChE Chem-E-Car Competition by attending the Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference. We serve as a low-stakes introduction to lab practices and engineering skills such as 3D printing, laser cutting, reaction optimization and component design. Engineering students in particular are able to benefit from developing their lab and shop skills outside of the classroom. Originally founded by a graduate student in the ChemE Department, we also serve as a form of community building for the numerous chemical engineers who participate. Currently, we have weekly two-hour lab sessions in TechSpark.
We are aiming to fundraise $3,000 to develop our club and attend these competitions. We will use the funds for travel expenses (rental cars & lodgings), as well as chemical purchasing & shipping. Any additional funds will go towards lab equipment and other physical car parts, such as wheels, screws, arduinos, etc. Experiments when optimizing the car are costly, and we sincerely appreciate your generous donations!
Giving CMU Day is your chance to illuminate the next bright idea in ChemE Car! 💡
