You have the power to energize the GSA today!
Carnegie Mellon’s Graduate Student Assembly is a body run by graduate students that’s been committed to advocating for and enhancing the graduate student experience for over thirty years.
Each year, through the stewardship of the student activities fees, we have produced events for thousands of students, upgraded campus infrastructure, supported student conference travel and thesis projects, provided grants for student families in need and drove other contemporary initiatives.
As a governing body for the graduate student population, it is critical that we can continue to directly execute these initiatives, build community and support the unique needs of graduate students at Carnegie Mellon. Our conference funding and childcare grant initiatives consume nearly 30% of our budget and half of our operations commitments. Despite this considerable allocation, the funds we can provide fall significantly short of covering the actual expenses for traveling to a conference or paying for childcare, and the number of students we can support each year with this funding is limited.
That’s why we are asking for tax-deductible donations from students, alumni, friends and family of Carnegie Mellon University to support graduate students now and into the future. With your donation, we will be able to expand the number of students who receive conference and thesis project funding each year and provide meaningful financial support for students with partners and children as they navigate their graduate education.
The impact of your gift will go beyond just the students of today, as these funds will be directly incorporated into GSA’s endowment account, accumulating interest and providing long-term support for all graduate students!
Giving CMU Day is your chance to illuminate the next bright idea in GSA! 💡
