You have the power to energize CMU Raasta today!
Carnegie Mellon Raasta is CMU’s premier Raas-Garba dance team, dedicated to promoting and celebrating the rich cultural heritage of traditional Indian folk dance. Raas and Garba, originating from Gujarat, are vibrant, energetic dance forms that have been passed down through generations, symbolizing joy, unity and celebration. Our team not only competes at national collegiate Raas-Garba competitions but also takes pride in fostering cultural awareness on campus. Every year, we host Garba nights, where students from all backgrounds are invited to experience and enjoy the lively rhythms and spirited dance moves that are integral to this tradition.
This year, donations from Giving Day will be crucial in supporting our team’s goals and ensuring a successful competition season. Funds will be used for competition registration fees, materials for props, transportation and accommodation expenses, as well as other essentials that enable us to represent CMU on the national stage. Additionally, part of the funds will help us organize our annual Garba nights, giving more students the opportunity to immerse themselves in this cultural celebration. Your support will allow us to continue sharing the beauty of Raas-Garba both within our community and beyond.
Giving CMU Day is your chance to illuminate the next bright idea in CMU Raasta! 💡
