This Giving CMU Day, help us equip the next generation of readers and leaders.
In the Department of English at Carnegie Mellon, we’re proud to cultivate the skills that last a lifetime. Our graduates go on to become doctors, authors, venture capitalists, filmmakers, lawyers and CEOs. Why? Because an English education at CMU provides more than a degree — it provides equipment for living.
We teach the tools of clear and persuasive communication, the habits of deep and patient thinking and the imagination necessary for engaged citizenship. We ask humanity’s biggest questions through the lenses of film, literature and rhetoric. And we believe writing — both process and product — offers a wellspring of wisdom for personal and professional life.
Far from standing apart from technology, English at CMU provides the reflective vision that makes innovation meaningful. We are a place where technology meets tradition, where readers find refuge and where leaders find language.
Please consider making a gift on Giving CMU Day. Together, we can ensure that CMU English remains a place where words change lives — and where our students are prepared to change the world.
