Integrative Design, Arts and Technology (IDeATe)

At the intersection of art, design and emerging technology, Carnegie Mellon’s IDeATe (Integrative Design, Arts and Technology) network empowers students to become bold, interdisciplinary creators.

Housed in a collaborative makerspace within Hunt Library, IDeATe brings together 10 dynamic undergraduate pathways — including Game Design, Media Design, Physical Computing, Sonic Arts and more. Here, students work across disciplines, drawing from CMU’s world-class expertise in the arts, engineering, computer science and beyond. Whether prototyping intelligent environments, building interactive installations or exploring soft technologies, students develop hands-on skills and innovative mindsets that prepare them for impactful careers in today’s creative economy.
