As a completely student-run Division I collegiate club, we are driven by our passion for athletic excellence, teamwork and personal growth. Our mission is to play with excellence and to share our passion generously.
Whether we joined our first semester or tried out countless times to earn our spot, we have grown together to bring home exceptional wins. In 2025, we placed 1st in Division 1B at the National Eastern Collegiate Badminton Championships, outperforming 19 universities and demonstrating the strength and dedication of our program.
Despite our competitive success, badminton is not an NCAA sport, which means our team receives limited financial support. We rely on donors and community partners to help fund competitive travel, host campus events and continue sharing our love for the game with the CMU student body. No matter our financial situation, our goal is to pique interest in this incredible sport and keep our community growing. With your support, we can continue representing Carnegie Mellon on the national stage and welcoming more students into our campus community.
We are fundraising to secure the financial stability of our competitive travel so we can redirect our internal resources toward campus engagement and student retention. We have successfully established ourselves as part of the student community, from hosting a successful event at Pittsburgh Connections to engaging hundreds of freshmen at the Sports Club Fair and running a highly successful CMU Open Tournament that featured prizes, food and community games. However, the rising costs of competitive travel (approx. $8k/year) threaten to consume our entire operating budget. Our goal is simple: Fund our travel through TartanFunder so we can afford to keep hosting the high-quality, inclusive on-campus events that students love. We want to ensure that financial barriers do not stop us from representing CMU nationally or building community locally.
