The Spanish and Latine Student Association (SALSA) is a student-led multicultural organization whose mission is to create an inclusive and impactful community for Latine students at Carnegie Mellon University. SALSA aims to do this by hosting social and educational events that highlight the diverse range of cultures that Latines share as well as the issues that impact us. SALSA also works to strengthen connection, intersectionality, and solidarity among other multicultural organizations, emphasizing the importance of recognizing that Latines do not have a standard look or identity.
Our goal for this campaign is to raise funds to support SALSA’s cultural, community-building and recognition events throughout the academic year. Donations help us organize programs such as Noche Latina, the Senior Stole Ceremony, Carnaval and our community donation and outreach initiatives. These events celebrate Latinx identity, culture and achievement at CMU while creating spaces where students feel supported, represented and connected.
